Recommended reading lists

One student asked me to recommend some books to improve writing skills, and there are three book that came across my mind: (1) The Elements of Style (by William Strunk Jr and E.B White), (2) Simon and Schuster Handbook for Writers (by Lynn Troyka and Douglas Hesse), and (3) Rules for Writers (by Diana Hacker.) These three books are must-have books not only for university freshmen but also for conscientious writers, and the books deal with the rules of usage and principles of composition most commonly violated.
